Tonnellerie Louis Latour
The Reciprocal Wine Trading Company has been managing the sales and marketing of the wine barrels produced by Tonnellerie Louis Latour since 2016.
Tarryn Vincent, national sales manager of Reciprocal, is responsible for this operation while Paul Haumann of Vincorp/Anglo African Finance continues to manage the logistics and finance.
Their role has been such that South African producers who have been using Latour barrels enjoy a seamless relationship between the cooperage and delivery to their winery.

The Reciprocal Wine Trading Company has been the South African importer and distributor of the wines of Louis Latour since 1980.
Tonnellerie Latour was established more than two centuries ago, initially only to supply the very best Burgundian wine barrels for the family’s domaines: Louis Latour is the largest owner of Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote d’Or.
It has since expanded its operations and supplies a limited percentage of its output to producers around the world who seek the finest French oak barrels to optimise the quality of their premium wine production.
The list of wineries that make use of Louis Latour Barrels reads like the who’s who of the international wine industry, including, but not limited to: Staglin Family Winery and Turley Estate (USA); Cullen, Voyager Estate and Leeuwin Estate (Australia); Craggy Range (NZ); and Richard Kershaw Wines, Lothian, Neil Ellis Wines, Thelema, Storm, Glen Carlou and Vergelegen (South Africa).

About Louis Latour
At Maison Louis Latour, we have always performed this traditional activity in our own cooperage. Oak from the forests of northern France ages in the open air for more than two years.
The wood is then handcrafted by the master coopers using traditional skills and techniques. Each of our barrels is the painstaking work of an artisan. We age our wines in these barrels whose qualities we know intimately, for we only produce a single type.
They are medium toasted and branded with the year of production, which allows our oenologists to choose a proportion of new or already used barrels for each wine, and to form a clear idea of the exchange that will occur between the wood and the wine.
The Louis Latour Cooperage produces around 3 500 barrels each year, half of which are used for ageing our own wines and the other half exported to the most prestigious producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay around the world.
