The Winetech Cellar Assistants’ Programme will again present workshops during 2023 for senior cellar assistants in the industry. These workshops make a considerable contribution to knowledge transfer on an advanced level to senior cellar assistants.
Feedback received from cellars confirmed the serious need for the development of practical knowledge of senior cellar assistants which adds value to their careers.
During 2023 Winetech will present three workshops in Wellington, Robertson and Stellenbosch. Participation is free of charge to individuals who have successfully completed the Wine Training SA SKOP 3 qualification.
A qualified winemaker, Elzette du Preez, and Laffort will present the workshops in Afrikaans and English. During the workshops wine faults will be discussed in detail, i.e., how does it happen?; what are the consequences of these faults?; and what can be remedied? Senior cellar assistants who are trained to identify wine faults and able to report them in time are of immense value to cellars. The participants will be made aware of the fact that wine faults have financial implications for cellars and that the prevention thereof is an important aspect of the winemaking process.
Prior booking is essential and enrolments will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of ID numbers, gender, race and citizenship will be required. Notes will be available electronically in Afrikaans and English. Attendance registers will be made available electronically to participating cellars.
– Should your cellar be interested in participating in one of the information days in Stellenbosch or Breedekloof, please contact Santi Basson at 072 298 8186 or santib@mweb.co.za.Â
