Message from tourism & hospitality sector: DON’T CANCEL, POSTPONE

The South African tourism and hospitality sector, which includes wine tourism, will be greatly affected the nation-wide lockdown from midnight on 26 March 2020 to midnight on 16 April 2020.

“DON’T CANCEL, POSTPONE” is the message from Ms Mmamoloko Kunayi-Ngubane, National Minister of Tourism.

Wesgro shared the following media release and notice from the Ministry of Tourism:

Notice to the restaurant industry:

  • All restaurants, cafes, bars, coffee shops will be required to comply with the nation-wide lockdown.
  • All food delivery services will also need to be suspended.

  • Measures regarding in-destination tourists
  • Assistance for business enterprises in distress
  • Tourism relief funding, including application qualifying criteria and delivery mechanisms
